Episode 09: Workout Culture Clash
Content note: this episode includes discussion of exercise, weight loss, weight gain, diet culture, etc. If you find these topics triggering, feel free to skip ahead to our second segment, about 23 minutes in.
Exercise hasn’t always felt joyful to Brooke and Amanda. Between the two, they’ve tried just about everything — from step, to running, to yoga, to dance cardio (hello, Jazzercise) — and everything in between. Amanda digs into Gretchen Rubin’s four tendencies to identify why certain types of exercise (and accountability) work for her, and Brooke tells the tale of her lonnnnnng journey to finding an exercise routine that has now stuck for 5 years, and is as much for her mental health as it is for her physical health.
Amanda also divulges a very mysterious joy-sparker, and Brooke shares a great tip for keeping home measurements and swatches on-hand for spontaneous shopping excursions.
